Ein Marmorstein überschüttet mit gelben Blütenpollen (1977) oder mit weißer Milch (1975) - er leistet vielleicht das gleiche wie im tonalen Bereich eine Fuge von Bach - oder wer es gern schwärzer mag: ein Blues von Blind Willie Johnson. Laib experimentiert mit Bienenwachs (1987) oder Reis (1983) wie ein Einstein mit mathematischen Formeln: Man hat den Eindruck, LAIB will Grundlegendes schaffen.
